Re-living times better left alone

First off, for some reason I can give a title to a blog from my computer at work but it wont show up the body of the blog. Its an apple computer and i dont understand it.

I got my braces yesterday. Yes, the shiny silver kind that we all had as teenagers (including me…for 2 years!). So start cracking jokes about the reflection blinding you and i may go postal. Anyways. My teeth are straight, yes i realize that. But i have TMJ issues that this is supposed to remedy. So we will see. I have NO clue as to how long it will take as Dr Parsons has made it very clear that i have a "jacked up" bite that has caused my tmj issuses. So i can have surgery on my jaw (almost never successful in a case like mine) or suck it up and go w/ braces. No, i’m not a good candidate for invasilign either. Yes, i tried everything before doing this.

So the good news? Who needs collagen when you have braces? my lips look plump and pretty. Just dont ask me to smile or make me laugh…thats when it gets scary. :-)

And yes, it takes me back to my insecure highschool days which i would prefer to leave in the past. So this time around I’m gonna work on NOT being so vain and embracing them (yeah…sure). I may pick colored rubberbands to go w/ the seasons and whatnot. Who knows…i’m just crazy like that.

In better news, you’ll all be glad to know that it looks as if my feet will be ready for flip flop weather in another couple of months. My toenails that were lost to the trip to sixflags have regrown beautifuly so that makes me feel a little less hideous.

I’m in need of some love right now.

  1. dude…i totally had to wear this thing for tmj…not braces (i had those in college), but this hydraulic-like contraption that was glued to the back of my top and bottom and teeth. i had it in high school. one time it actually got stuck open (i was riding down a water slide on a youth trip at lake lanier islands) and i had to go all the way to my ortho to get it fixed. crazy. i must say, though, my jaw feels much better now.

  2. this is like a support-group blog. i have TMJ as well! i have since i was 11. i have an over-bite too, but never wore braces. i wear a mouthguard at night (from the ortho, not the football kind) and i talk all funny and it makes me drool. i’m hopeful the braces help you! i was told the process of putting them on and maintaining them would cause me more pain than the good they would do. keep us posted! maybe i’ll join the braceface force. :o )

  6. Ryan had the surgery & then they put braces on which have been on for almost 3 years now….. I don’t think you would have enjoyed the surgery. I bet you look cute!
